How we do it
Our modeling is physically based rather than the purely statistical models of the past. We use iSnobal as our foundation, enhanced with high-resolution data, real- time updates, and rigorous validation. Satellite products, SNOTEL data, and forest canopy mapping all feed into our system. This results in data you can trust to stand up to the most volatile seasons. From drought to flood risk, our models reduce uncertainty so you can act decisively.

Who We Are
We are software developers and snow nerds that are passionate about aiding water resource managers through strategic use of modern software practices. The founders at M3 were a part of the core team that created the Automated Water Supply Model (AWSM) at the USDA Agricultural Research Service, the legacy of which lives on in the M3W-iSnobal modeling system as a succesful technology transfer. As a company, we are leveraging powerful modeling tools like Boreas to create some of the most reliable near-real-time distributed Snow Water Equivalent (SWE) estimates ever.
